What you actually get

Not a gadget. An evening, and it’s done.

Straight into your camera roll

No transfer, no card reader, no cable. The photograph is on your phone the second you take it — ready to send to your sister before you have finished the box.

Because your phone is doing the capturing

You already own the hard part

A modern phone camera is sharper than most desktop film scanners sold ten years ago. This just holds the film flat, lights it evenly and puts the lens in the right place.

Because the camera you need is already in your hand

Your slides never leave the house

The only copy of your parents’ wedding stays on your own table. No courier, no lab, no three-week wait.

Because it comes to the slides, not the other way round

It folds into a drawer

Flat-packs to the size of a paperback, 186 grams. Take it to your mother’s house, do her boxes on her kitchen table, bring it home.

Because the whole thing folds
As simple as that

Three steps. Really.

Loading a strip of negatives
1

Load the film

Slide a negative strip or a mounted slide into the matching tray, and push it into the slot.

Switching on the backlight
2

Switch on the light

Turn on the LED backlight and rest your phone on the stand, lens over the opening.

Taking the photograph
3

Tap the shutter

Take the photo. The app inverts the negative and saves it to your camera roll as a JPEG.

What happens when

From the doorstep to the last shoebox

  1. The day it arrivesUnfold it, drop in two AAA batteries, install the free app. Around ten minutes, most of it the app.
  2. That eveningThe first slide comes up on your screen. Most people stop here for an hour, just looking — and that is the best part.
  3. The first weekendOnce you find your rhythm it is a few seconds per frame. A box of two hundred slides is an evening in front of the television.
  4. The week afterThe photographs are already on your phone, so they are already in the family group chat. The boxes go back in the loft and it stops mattering that they are fading.

“My wedding slides had not been seen in 54 years. I did the whole box in one evening and sent them to my daughter the same night.”

“A lab quoted me $1.20 a slide. I had over six hundred. This cost less than forty of them and nothing left the house.”

“I used it with the free Kodak app on an iPhone 12. The quality genuinely surprised me — it gave life to photos I took thirty years ago.”

Why you can take our word for it

We would rather tell you the limits

Your phone is the camera

This is a lightbox and a stand, not a scanner with its own sensor. The picture is only as good as the phone taking it. A recent phone gives genuinely good results; a very old one will not.

Slides beat colour negatives

Mounted slides come out excellent straight away. Colour negatives often need a quick contrast and colour adjustment afterwards — the free apps do it in one tap, but it is a step.

30-day money-back guarantee

Full refund, no questions asked. One-year manufacturer warranty on materials and workmanship.

Support from people

Your questions

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a computer? +
No. Your phone does everything. The photograph goes straight into your camera roll, ready to share. A computer is only useful if you want to back the files up afterwards.
Which app should I use? +
We recommend the free Kodak Mobile Film Scanner app, on iOS and Android. It is genuinely free, it handles colour and black and white, and in independent tests it produced the best results of the apps we looked at. A QR code in the box points to the manufacturer’s own app, but the Kodak one is better and we would use it instead.
Do I need batteries? +
Two AAA batteries, and they are not in the Essential pack. The Complete and Two-pack options arrive with them already fitted.
How long does a box take? +
A few seconds per frame once you find your rhythm. Most people clear a box of two hundred slides in an evening.
Will my phone work with it? +
Almost certainly. It works with iOS and Android. The one requirement is that your camera can focus at close range — roughly 8 cm. Any phone from the last five or six years manages this easily.
Will it damage my slides? +
No. Nothing touches the emulsion — the film simply sits in a tray above a light. Your originals come out exactly as they went in.
What quality do I actually get? +
That depends on your phone, and we would rather say so. A recent phone camera is sharper than most desktop film scanners sold a decade ago, and the results are more than good enough to share, print small and keep. It is not a professional archival scan.
Does it take 120 or 110 film? +
No. 35 mm and 135 mm only, negatives and mounted slides. Medium format 120 and the smaller 110 and 126 formats are not supported.
What is the return policy? +
30 days for a full refund. If it is not for you, for any reason, send it back and you are refunded. No questions.
How long is delivery? +
7 to 14 working days, free and tracked. Orders are processed Monday to Friday.
What does the warranty cover? +
One-year manufacturer warranty on materials and workmanship. The Collection pack includes an extension to 2 years.

The slides are still there. They just need looking at.

Film fades a little every year. Your digital photographs never will.
