This is a lightbox and a stand, not a scanner with its own sensor. The picture is only as good as the phone taking it. A recent phone gives genuinely good results; a very old one will not.
Mounted slides come out excellent straight away. Colour negatives often need a quick contrast and colour adjustment afterwards — the free apps do it in one tap, but it is a step.
